Chorne Namysto
2014, multi-screen video installation
Chorne Namysto is a multi-screen video installation and an installation of wooden beads. The palette and spirit of the project resonate with our tragic time, at the same time serving as a continuation of the artist's repeating motive – to see the beauty and the role of art in society through female images. Central objects, the beads and the bride, are united into a single story, which in turn connects the viewer to the world of art. The impression is created by stressing ethnic identity and traditions of our culture. Yet, traditional images appropriated are never limited to their original sense, constantly bringing into being unexpected meanings. The score for the project was created by contemporary Ukrainian composer Alla Zahaykevych.
